Ms. Kirkland graduated from California State University, Fresno. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Legal Environment and Economics. At CSUF, she was a member of the Economics Club, Federal Reserve Mock Committee, and Alpha Kappa Psi Business Fraternity.
Ms. Kirkland developed a passion for the law while working as a claims examiner for the State of California. She gained valuable knowledge about the rights of injured workers and business solutions to reduce workers' compensation claims.
She continued her academic career at San Joaquin College of Law, where she earned her Juris Doctor degree. At SJCL, Ms. Kirkland published an article in the SJCL Agricultural Law Review. She received oral advocacy recognition at both the local and state level. Her leadership activities included Student Body Representative, 2010 SJCL Student of the Year, and membership in a community outreach organization.
Ms. Kirkland worked as a mediator with the Better Business Bureau. She interned with the Research Attorneys Group for the Fresno Superior Court Civil Division and the Consumer Rights Division of Central California Legal Services.
Ms. Kirkland started her civil litigation legal practice in 2013. Before opening her firm, she worked for an insurance defense law firm. Ms. Kirkland was admitted to practice by the California State Bar and the Federal Court Eastern District. Past community service awards include the 31st Assembly District 2006 Latino Heritage Award for Community Volunteer of the Year and the 2015 African American Caucus of the SEIU Community Attorney Recognition Award.
